Below are a sample of Yowie Sketches by Witnesses who have encountered the creature. Many attributes are strikingly similar in various sketches.
The Yowie is one of Australia's most enduring and mysterious creatures, is often compared to Bigfoot or the Sasquatch of North America.
The combination of firsthand accounts and artistic interpretations adds layers of significance to the Yowie sightings, especially when you consider the many similarities attached to these depictions both in the past and in the present.
Much of the weight to the Yowie’s existence is due to the vast range of accounts that span generations.
The artistic representations—often depicting the Yowie as a massive, hulking creature—play into the mystery, especially with the recurring elements of the creature's eerie presence in the Australian wilderness.

Ex Park Ranger sighting in the Border Ranges, near Brindle Creek in 1987. First noticed a terrible smell resembling rotting meat and excrement, before hearing the sound of trees and foliage breaking moving through the forest. He estimated the Yowie to have been at least 8ft tall.
During Training Op's at Cowley Beach, Queensland in 1997, Richard had fallen behind his squad and sat down for a quick rest. Just as he was about to get back underway, he was touched on the back of the head.

A sketch from a very good Report we received from Howard, Queensland in 2007.
A mother and daughter living on a rural property enjoyed riding their horses in neighboring bush land, and had never seen anything unusual until...... (as with all of our Witnesses, their "one day" arrived).
Classic traits told in this event, of Yowies trying to blend in by pretending to be a part of a tree, or a tree itself. The recorded interview is worth listening to.

Jason states: "The horses are roughly about 15 hands, or 1.5m tall and this was a head and shoulder above both horses. It moved from left to right. It didn’t hop or bound. It was a dark brown, almost black colour. It was definitely hairy."

Our Witness didn’t want his story taped.
His encounter was in 2006. He had been bushwalking between Lithgow and Hartley
In a valley saw what he thought was two burnt stumps together 100 metres away - then one stood up to 8ft high. Jet black shiny hair. Yellow-green eyes, black skin. He immediately panicked and
ran back the 1 km to his car.
After a flurry of Newspaper reports of Yowie sightings around the Bombala and Bega area in 1912, Newspaper artist William Donald put his skills to use sketching a Yowie based on Witness descriptions.

An amazing story from Birkdale, Queensland in 1990.
Damien went to Golf early one morning with his Father and a few of his Fathers friends. While the adults playing, he usually went "Golfballing", which is finding stray balls and selling them back at the Club House after the game.
On this occasion, Damien wasn't having much luck. He decided to jump the fence and walk through the adjacent forest looking for balls. Turns out, Golf Balls wasn't all he found.....

Sketch by Shannon Guthrie of the 5ft juvenile squatting on Beechment Road, Witheren at 4.10am 16-06-2022. Shannon had come around a steep bend while riding his bike down the mountain range, and suddenly corrected his driving line to avoid hitting it. The Yowie turned its head and upper torso, while putting its hand out towards the bike as it braced for impact. The other hand was flat on the road. Its hand grazed Shannon and the bike, as he passed.

A well known case of the time. The year was 2000, Jerry and Sue O'Connor were living on Terrace Falls Road in Hazelbrook, Blue Mountains. They had a nightly visitor that would come to their bedroom window and peer in. Their cat would wake them by hissing and arching its back in fear. The window was well over 7ft high, yet this creature looked in effortlessly.
They found footprints i their yard and other signs of interest. They claimed the Yowie was responsible for strange dreams and there was a supernatural element.
We shot a Discovery Channel Documentary at their house in the year 2000, called Monster Hunters.

Sketch by D. Smith of a Yowie he Witnessed crouching down on the outskirts of Stanthorpe, Queensland when he was 15 years old in 1985.
Quite a famous Yowie sighting of the time. In 1990, while horseback riding in her home town of Krambach New South Wales, Julie Clark rode down into a dry sandy creek bed. On the side of the creek was a Yowie sitting on a rock. It immediately stood up and they locked gaze for 10 seconds. She said the height was far taller than the horse.
It then turned and walked away.
The Australian Post Magazine embellished the story, and the TV Show called The Extraordinary latched on a year later and filmed a story to one of their episodes.

Michael had a good report from Henty Road, Redbank, West of Brisbane in 1989. Another location that seemed to have an active period many years ago. Black face and fingers, hair was dark brown and covered the entire body. Michael is 5'7" and he said this was shorter. The eyes were something that fascinated him - he states, "It had the freakiest eyes I’ve ever seen, almost like teddy bear eyes, they were almost like black buttons, shiny and they pierced right through you. To me it felt hypnotic."

Kae was 15 years old and had his sighting near Diamond Head (north of Taree), New South Wales in 1983.
He was riding his bike through thick bush towards Diamond Head Beach when he saw a 6ft, light brown coloured Yowie shaking a tree, only 20 feet away. They stared at each other and the Yowie made no attempt to come towards him. Kae rode off as fast as he could, looking back over his shoulder. He told his mother when he arrived home, however she was skeptical.
Now in his 50's, Kae still has an issue telling the story.

Kieron and a friend were riding their bikes through the pine forest at the back of Palm Beach in 1978, when they were confronted by an 8ft hairy biped standing beside a tree watching them. He says the hair was 2 to 3" long, the face was between human and ape, pungent odour and very red eyes. It roared at the boys before they fled. Interestingly, we had a spate of sightings in that area during the 70's.

Mt. Warreneip, Victoria. Geoff was parked at an abandoned house with his girlfriend late at night when a massive creature appeared walking from side to side towards them. They both had the fright of their lives. It disappeared behind some bushes before popping up again somewhere different. He stated the car and high tailed it out of there. He said the head and shoulders were huge. Ironically, only two weeks later on Tierneys Road, not far away, he had a more dramatic encounter with a group of friends.

Angela came face to face with with this guy looking at her through a window outside her house at Mangrove Swamp, north east of Darwin in 1979. She said he was covered all over with 2 to 3" hair, had black skin and had a curious expression on it's face. It left back for the forest without incident.

This little freak was spotted outside the kitchen window eating out of a dog bowl on a rural property near Cressbrook Creek, Queensland. He was hairless, and had pasty white skin. The comment from the Witness was he resembled Golem from Lord of the Rings. It looked up at the window, got a fright and ran back off into the forest. You just don't know what's lurking about out there.

Nathan had a terrifying experience at Cattai, New South Wales in 2017 while camping alone. This is one of his visitors during the night. He reports that it appeared to have one red diamond shaped eye. Sounds unusual? Yes, but no.... we have received other reports in the past of much the same.

Sketch of what we call, 'Fabio the Yowie'. A Yowie that walked in front of the car of a husband and wife during the night at Mt. Hotham in 2015, carrying a cow bell. He was over 7ft tall and had long blonde hair. That wasn't their only encounter that weekend. After their 2nd, they swore never to return. Witness Ms. Sharron Williams was driving north through Bongil Bongil, New South Wales, in the middle of the night on Jan 1 2008, when a creature appeared to the right and keeping pace of her car.

Sketch from P. Giffin based on two sightings from the Mandagery / Dilladerry forests, New South Wales in 2011 and 2016. Both were said to behave in completely different manners, one of which showed telepathic abilities.
He adds that he will never step foot in the Mandagery State Forest again. Location is west of the Blue Mountains.
Fingal Head, New South Wales 1991. Sketched by K. Slabb. Witnessed by a group of locals sitting on the side off a sandy road. When it looked up as they came closer, they realized it was not human.

Owens Creek, Queensland 2017 - Witness Yowie Sketch by W. Bradford. While searching for his hunting dogs, Mr. Bradford was confronted by huge hairy creature standing next to a tree and grasping it with its right hand.

In the mid to late 1970’s, there was an Urban upturn of the Gold Coast, which began to branch further west from the coastline.
Many suburbs and roads we know today – didn’t exist.
Paul Cronk reported 2 sightings from the Tweed area during the 1970’s that will never escape his mind. Another Witness whose sighting had a profound effect.

Circ. 1976 thee were a spate of reported sightings in the Woodenbong area that made the Lismore Northern Star. Reporter Gary Buchanan was leading the charge, publishing the stories.
This sketch was drawn by Thelma Crewe, who witnessed a Yowie outside her house in the middle of the night. Thelma lived only a few streets away from the famous case of Jean Maloney, who's dog was crushed to death in the arms of a Yowie less than one year later.

Sketch from A. Owen of a creature witnessed by herself and father
in the Deepwater National Park in 2014. Its a series of events spanning over some time. At one stage Miss. Owen was too scared to walk to the Bus Stop to go to School.
The eyes shown in the bottom picture are in a photo her father took after hearing a noise outside. Strangely, his camera suddenly powered down. We would like to do the Witness Audio Report, however the audio quality is very scratchy due to poor reception.

Sketch by Scott Pilgrim, who in Jan of 1978, came home to his house at Springbrook to find something resembling this in his house.
He threw a chair at it before running 4kms to the Springbrook Homestead.

Yowie Sketches by Dean Harrison at Hazelbrook, New South Wales in 1998.
Phil, Warren and Dean were having a nigh time interaction with a Yowie at the end of Windbourne Avenue. The Yowie had gone quiet for well over an hour. Phil and Warren asked if it was still there, Dean said yes. He turned on the flashlight and hit it in the chest. It was standing out in the open in full view - 'knowing' humans have night blindness and he couldn't seen. His cockiness got the better of him and he was caught out. He then ran to the next tree for cover, but it was too small, so he then went to all fours and crept backwards down the valley.
Yowie sketch by Dean Harrison from Kilkivan in 2009. Squatting in the grass on the left side of the track, it leant forward into the long grass to be concealed.
Trying to get past it, Yowie #2 was on the other side of the track, who smacked a tree three times as a warning. This was the morning after being hit in the chest by a Yowie. The suspect was the tree player.

Geoff and his family had years of experiences with a Yowie frequenting their property and had some very close and face to face sightings.
We had also spent a lot of time with the family and had our own sightings and experiences there.
"It had climbed up a pole on the side of the bridge and clambered over the rail and stood beside my car looking at me".
A 1987 encounter while crossing the Taemas Bridge near Wee Jasper, New South Wales in 1987. At first James thought he saw headlights coming the other way, so he slowed the vehicle only to realise they were not headlights.
They were reflective or self Illuminating eyes of a massive creature climbing onto the bridge.

Over time we hear the odd rumor from Fraser Island. In fact we have some bizarre prints in our Footprint section from the Island.
This Report was rather dramatic with the two boys confronted and chased by a large Yowie, soon after observing a smaller one on a tree branch during the night. The Yowie dropped to all fours and made horrifying guttural noises as it chased the boys out of the forest and onto the beach. It would have been a traumatic event.
