Date: 13th August, 2019

Time: 2am

I had left Queensland driving south home to Sydney along the New England Highway. Not the route I normally take. Not the route I will ever take again. I don’t know exactly where I was but it was around 2 hours out of Newcastle.

It scared the living heebie-jeebies out of me. I expected to see Kangaroos, Cow, possums etc, but not this. This thing stepped out from behind a tree on the left hand side of the road, stopped, turned around and looked at my car as I drove passed. It scared the sh*8 out of me.

I’d had to stop 3 times before this happened because it was extremely foggy. On the third time I stopped, I pulled over to the side of the road because I needed a break and the fog was really thick. I got a funny feeling about the area. I didn’t like it. My instincts just said I didn’t like this place. It was as dead as a doornail. It was like a ghost town. It was 2am, I was on my own and didn’t have anyone in the car with me. I needed to go to the toilet but I didn’t want to get out of my car, plus it was zero degrees, so it was cold.

After stopping there for 10 minutes, I started again and not more than 200m down the road, the Yowie stepped out.

He was 7 to 8ft tall and hairy. I didn’t know what to think. I wasn’t about to stop and take a photo because it scared the Sh*8 out of me. I didn’t know if these things are dangerous. I didn’t know if they attack. I didn’t know anything about anything about these things. I know the difference between a kangaroo and a cow, and what this thing is. I know what I saw.

I had a bad feeling about the area. I had a really bad feeling. It scared me. My instincts said something wasn’t right.

It stepped out from the left and stood right on the edge of the road. He was very tall, probably 8ft. Large and hairy, like a Gorilla. It looked at me in the car. It stopped and turned its head and looked at me. I’ve looked at it and just said, what the hell is that? You have got to be kidding me. Oh my God. I couldn’t believe what I just saw. All I could think of was Bigfoot. I didn’t know these things even existed. I was gobsmacked. At 2’Oclock in the morning, it scared the crap out of me.

He was wide in the shoulders. No shape to it, just straight up and down. Broad shoulders. Not a big head. I didn’t really see a neck. It was just standing bolt upright like a human, but 8ft tall.

He was still standing there on the edge of the road after I passed him. He was still standing there. I could see him in my rear vision mirror. Just standing there looking at my car. He had no expression on his face. He looked like a big Gorilla at the Zoo. He didn’t have as much hair on his head compared to his body and his skin under the hair on his face was black. His hair was a dark brown to black colour. I got a good look at him, but couldn’t define the features on his face. It was something between an ape and a human.

He stepped out of the bushes and did nothing other than look at my car.

I still had a 5 hour drive the rest of the way home and all I could picture was this thing on the side of the road. I couldn’t believe what I just saw. I was gobsmacked.

I think I’m going to need counselling. I can’t get the image of this thing out of my mind. Even when I go to bed at night. I have 3 kids and a job to look after. But all I can concentrate on is this thing. It’s had a huge impact on me.
