Lots of great comments were received on my first newsletter. Unfortunately, it appears we did a few "no no's" so not all of you were able to access the links. We have since got this sorted out. Please not that if you wish to review all of the stories in The Murphy File, simply go to my page and scroll down. If you hit "read more" to access the further details it is simplest to hit the back arrow to go back to The Murphy File -- then pick up the next item or scroll further down. Here is the link for my page:

One other thing, to enlarge any image, click on it. When it appears, put your cursor on it. A little box will appear in the lower right corner of the photo. Click on this box and the image will again enlarge. If the little box does not appear, click on the white space around the image and then click on the image. However, in some cases, there are no further enlargements, and some of you may not have a WEB browser that permits additional enlargements.
Did You Know? (Or Nice to Know) & What's hit my desk
Wanja Twan, Rene Dahinden ex-wife, is still an active Bigfooter. She opened a little sasquatch museum in Hope, B.C., a couple of years ago (now closed). This photo is of she and I at the museum with a sasquatch carving by Robert Forde that she purchased for her museum. Click Here
Lloyd Pye has corrected me on the date he saw the Iceman. It was in 1976, not 1968 as I previously stated. He saw the exhibit in St. Louis.
The old Gigantopithecus has been shoved back to 300,000 years, sorry to say. It appears Jack Rink was a little hasty. Here is what I received from Dr. Jeff Meldrum: "Jack Rink released to the press a preliminary result of an age of 100,000 years ago (likely because they were hoping for that young of a date so they could carry on with plans to attempt to extract and sequence DNA from the fossil teeth). However, the final result was an absolute date of 300,000 years ago, confirming earlier relative dating estimates for those cave deposits based on faunal associations. [Of course it is unlikely that Gigantopithecus routinely inhabited caves, rather its bones were occasionally carried into caves by scavengers. So the dates are for the age of the deposits in the particular caves that happened to have the few Giganto bones that comprise the paltry sample at hand. They may not reflect the actual temporal and geographic range of the species, but merely reflect the bias in preservation and discovery of these rare fossils.] I hate to see this dating inaccuracy perpetuated, as much as I would have liked it to be so."

Sally Ann Clarke who wrote The Lake Worth Monster of Greer Island (1969), is in good health and still likes to talk about the events at Fort Worth Texas back in those days. I visited Sally at her home last year. Here is a photo of she and I. Click Here
The old house at Ruby Creek, B.C., that I show in Meet the Sasquatch (page 35) eventually crumbled to the ground and a relative of Jeannie Chapman, Deborah Schneider (and her husband, David) built a new house on the property. Click Here
I took this photo back in 1996 when I went to the house and visited with Deborah, seen here with me. Click Here
The new house is on the opposite side of the two large trees seen.
While scrounging around in the storage floor of the Vancouver Museum last year, I found a great orangutan skull. Click Here
I am sure it has not seen the light of day since it was given to the museum. I often muse that one day someone will stumble on a sasquatch skull in storage at some obscure museum, probably tagged "Skull of some sort."
The year 2006 is a bit of a bigfoot anniversary for me. It was in 1996 that I did the enhancements on the head of the creature seen in the Patterson/Gimlin film. Ten years later I am still wondering what happened here. I did not have a scanner then and did the enhancements with a charcoal pencil and pastels. While there is a whole story unto itself here, some of the details I observed were far beyond those possible - so did I imagine them?? The following image shows what I came up with for just the right side of the face. The only thing I specifically changed was the mouth - it appears somewhat open in the actual frame; I gave it a closed position. Click Here
WhiteWolf Entertainment's Giganto the Real King Kong (as seen on The History Channel) is an exceptionally good production. This is a MUST for anyone interested in bigfoot/sasquatch. To order it Click Here or call 1 888 423 1212.

There are two great kid's books that Hancock will soon be carrying. One is The Mysterious Yeti by June Buxton, and the other Bigfoot, by Michael Burgan. I will let you know when they are available. Hancock already carries The Bigfoot Discovery Book (coloring book) by Michael Rugg. If you have children interested in Sasquatch/Bigfoot, these three books make a great adventure for them.
Hancock House is in the process of carrying LOREN COLEMAN'S crypto books, plus other books in this category that I will announce as we move forward. I am working with them to make Hancock House a "one stop shop" for cryptozoology. If you have a particularly favorite crypto book (not a novel) that is still in print, please let me know the details on how Hancock House can order it.
