[Male Witness]

It was 2017, around May.

I was leaving home to go to work at very early in the morning (start at 4am).

Lived at Kingsholme, which is Upper Ormeau Road, but they call it Kingsholme. I worked at the Quarry.

It's a pretty rural area, pretty abandoned with not many cars around.

I left quietly so I wouldn't wake any of the neighbours or my wife. I've driven up the road, around a corner, up a hill, then there's a couple more corners. As I've come around a corner, I noticed something crossing the road.

I was only doing probably about 30 or 40 k's an hour, then backed off and switched my high beams on. There was this huge, big thing crossing.

I’ve come up on it to rolling to a stop and probably two car lengths away.  When I’d turned my high beams on, it lifted its hand up towards me and sort of turned towards me and that’s when I realized that this was, I'm going to say it was like a massive, massive person, but it was carrying a full size dead boar.

There was blood dripping on the road and it looked at me, but had its hand up, like covering itself from the headlights shining in its face. I just went, what the f’k is that? I could see the pig's head on its shoulder, and it had the pig slung over its shoulder, and it was draped down it's back like a backpack.

This is a full sized boar, like, they're not little. I know for a fact that there's no way I could even pick one up.

I’d stopped by this stage and it still had its hand up looking at the headlights. I said oh sh’t, then switched the high beams off and then turned my headlights on to the parkers and it just walked across or sort of quick stepped out of the way, off the road and went straight down the side of the embankment.

I switched my headlights back on and put the handbrake on, jumped out of the car and thought to myself, well, what the f’ck was that? Like, that's, that's bullshit.

I've never thought about Yowies, you know, I've heard the name Yowie, but I've never, never considered it. When I got out of the car, I had a bit of a look around and could hear something walking off into the bush.

And I mean, it sounded like. A full sized bull walking, like, you could hear the cracking and smashing through the bush and it just didn't give a shit, like, it just walked off. So, [00:04:00] yeah, that was the first time I actually saw something, really blew me away.

I had a Hilux at the time. It was a 2013 Hilux, which was a SR four-wheel drive, and it towered over that Hilux. It had to have been close to the three-meter-tall mark.

When it turned towards me, and I got a good, good hard look at it for a second, and it was three quarters of the width of my car.

As I said, it had a full size ball over its left shoulder, which was holding with its left hand, and it just had the two hoofs in its hand. It was just carrying it like it was a shopping bag from Coles.

After this happened, I jumped back in my car and drove down the road a little bit, and I got to the next side street, which is called Cliff Barron's Road, stopped and just went, What the f’ck did I just see?

Like, that's bullsh’t, you know, I just had no idea, completely stunned.

I ended up turning around, going home and taking the day off work because I was just, I didn't know what to do or think or anything like that. I was dumbfounded.

It was really darkish brown and black, almost say black, but it was like a really darky brown.

Long hair, probably three-, or four-centimeters long hair all over it, but its face wasn't human like it, it sort of looked like a human with a beard, but it had a really wide flat nose. And yeah, the eyes were just bigger than a person. It looked more like a gorilla, but not quite.

The only thing I could describe or compare it to is like the pictures they show of Neanderthals. This thing was built huge arm when it put its hand up, and massive hands for a person.

When it put its hand up, its hand was twice the size of mine. But its biceps were twice the size of my leg. This thing was built. I'd say it'd have to weigh 300 kilos plus, without the pig, like. So, this is big.

Not a lot scares me. I've grown up on acreage. I bought that property out there. And after that happened, it actually made me rethink a lot of the stuff that had happened over the years. I've had a few experiences out in the bush where I'd heard something. I was walking home from work one night, and I took a shortcut through the bush and something basically followed me home and I didn't know what it was.

But after that day, I just thought, well, what was that exactly? You know?

I'm not that good at Google or any of that sort of thing, and I just honestly didn't think there was anything like this in Australia. I've seen it with my own eyes. As much as I tried to convince myself it never happened, or it was a big homeless person or something like that, it was just, it was not human.

It was too big. No.

I remember getting back in the car and it was 3.48am because I had to start work at 4.

It's a stupid o'clock as I call it.

When I saw it, it already had one foot onto the road. I had to slow down to not go onto the wrong side of the road because it's a blind corner on a hill and you don't know what's coming the other way. I rolled to a stop sort of thing, I was only doing like 30, 40 k's an hour. I pulled up quite easily and just went, holy sh’t. Here I am literally a car length or two car lengths away, face to face with this thing, just looking at me like stunned by my headlights.

It had massive like hazel coloured eyes, like, and I mean twice the size of a human, like they were massive.

They're just beady, massive eyes. The skin was darkish.

It put its hand up, trying to cover the glare of the lights going into its eyes The hands were just weird, it had full five fingers, like person's hands sort of thing, but I've got rough hands because I'm a tradie and I work hard, yet my hands look soft compared to this thing. It had a pinkish patch in its palm, not the same colour as ours, it was a darker colour and really leathery. The hand's almost like, I'd say dark like an Aboriginal person's hand but the palm was like when people have a burn and have a scarring type of pink?

The he only thing I could compare it to is like a gorilla.

It looked kind of stunned and pissed off at the lights. It looked at me and when I flicked my high beams on it, then threw its hand up because like the light was right in its face.

It was just a look, it was a glimpse, then when it realized that I was stopped it then turned its head and walked off.

But the look that it gave me on its face….  I saw it the white of its teeth, but I couldn't make out what type of teeth. I just remember looking straight into its eyes and just going, well, sh’t, like, what the f’ck? And it sort of just looked in the direction it was going and it walked off, but within two steps.

It's only a single lane road there, which is big enough for two quarry trucks to drive over, and then you've got the side of the road that's probably about a metre, and then it goes down like an embankment, but not steep, and it only took two steps, and it was over the side of the gone.

The second it did that, like I said, I opened the door and got out of the car and started walking towards where it was, and I could hear it, not even running.

I wouldn't say had a beard, but it was, it was furry. Like it was hairy sort of thing. And, and its nose had a little like sparse bit of hair, not a lot. The nose wasn't human. It was more like a gorilla nose, as in really wide with big nostrils.

The nostrils were are hard to describe, but they looked almost like eyes, if you know what I mean? They're on the front. You could see them. When you look at a person, you can't really see their nostrils unless you sort of look up their nose, but I could see its nostrils.

I thought I saw teeth because it had its mouth kind of open, like it was going to yell at me or something like that, but didn't. It just looked at me with a look on its face like, you know, the lights in my eyes, it put its hands up, spotted that I was stopped and just walked off.

There was a trail of blood over the road from the Boar, like, drips of blood along the road, and as it walked off and went down the embankment. I could see the Boar on its back, and  there was blood dripping down.

I was just like, holy sh’t, like, how the f’ck do you kill a huge pig for one instance, and then carry it?

My dad used to take us pig shooting as kids, and man, those things are unstoppable. This was a full size Boar.

They're an amazing animal. Very hefty. I never even realised there were wild pigs around Kingsholme / Ormeau area.

And they're like, oh, it's just, it's koalas mating. And I'm like, really? Because it sounds like a koala killing, like a bear killing a koala, like the noises were just weird, like, so I've never heard screamed noises like that before.

I didn't see the feet. I didn't look. I was too busy looking at the top half of it and just going, ‘is that actually carrying a pig’? The fact that it had a full-size bore on its shoulder, that just blew me away.

I reckon it would have been male because like it's chest, was just, for no other words it was f’cking huge, like an Olympic bodybuilder sort of thing but covered in hair.

You could see it was holding a full size pig and feel the weight. I wouldn't say it was hunched over, but it was leaning forward sort of thing carrying this thing. As I said, like it was a backpack and this full size Boar only went like three quarters of the way down his back.

The top of its head was, I wouldn't say pointy, but it wasn't round like a person. It's like it had a ridge along the top of its head sort of thing. But not huge, maybe an inch or two high but came out more than a human's head does. Like this massive monobrow with eyes sunken back into its head way more than a person.

As I said, it very much looked like a silverback gorilla, but twice the size.

There hasn't been a span of more than two or three days when I haven't thought about this thing and just gone, well, what the f’ck was it?

Like, you know, how can, how do you explain it? So, and any, anyone I've tried to tell has just laughed at me like I'm an idiot.

I look around at everything now, like, I hear a noise, I look, so it's changed my attitude towards the Australian bush.

I don't drink, I don't do drugs.

I still have dreams and wake up, like it just happened. I'd call them nightmares, but I'm not that scared, more like I have flashbacks.

I can't rationalize it. It was just f’cking huge. It was like it happened yesterday.

I wouldn't say I'm traumatized, but I've definitely compartmentalized it.
