Location: Currumbin Valley, Queensland
Event: Possible Dogman or Yowie Sighting
Date: 2019
Time: 3pm
I was driving back down Piccadilly Road in Currumbin Valley. There's a creek about 300 meters from the road, that winds further away and comes back closer into the road. I had a fish trap down there catching gudgeons for the home fish tank.
We’d checked the fish trap and were on the way back. It was about 3 or 3. 30pm and broad daylight.
There was a paddock to our right hand side that was full of campus grass which grows about three foot high, brown grass everywhere, and there was no stock in the paddock whatsoever.
For some reason myself and ex girlfriend both looked that way. Out of nowhere, only 150 metres at the max, this monstrous thing basically leapt out of nowhere.
It must have been lying flat in the scrub, and then just pounced, or loped, or I don't even, I can't even describe it. But, it was dark brown and it jumped twice and on the second jump, it either jumped into a flat spread on his guts and disappeared or down into a hollow or, literally disappeared.
We both saw it. It was enough for me to pull the car over to the wrong side of the road to look. We just both look at each other with wide eyes and said, what the hell was that?
It looked like it had a snout like a Bull Mastiff or a St. Bernard or a Rottweiler. It wasn't a horse. It certainly wasn't a cow. It wasn't a dog.
It had dark brown long hair coming all the way down its back, and legs were stumpy and long arms.
As it launched out, you could see its whole body.
It must have jumped four, five foot in the air I'd say. Its whole body was off the ground, and you could see it. It was absolutely monstrous.
We were absolutely dumbfounded. I'd never seen anything like it. The head was very, very round. It wasn't conical shape and it had almost like a snout, as I said.
It was bizarre. I came home and I had no explanation whatsoever for it. I'd spent a lot of time in the bush. I'm no mug when it comes to seeing animals and stuff like that. This wasn't any animal I'd ever seen before. And it was certainly out of place, for lack of a better term.
It's going to sound silly, but I thought I might have seen something that was From the Ice Age or something that, was in some sort of time slip. I had that little explanation for what I'd seen.
If I had to describe it as something, if you wanted to have a look at one of those marsupial lions, that's sort of what it looked like, but it wasn't one of them, that was the closest thing I could put to it. It was the most bizarre experience of my life.
And then it just disappeared?
The whole paddock was overgrown with Pampas grass or whatever they call it. That brown grass is about three and a half, four foot tall with a seed head that looks like four or five fingers.
It was bounding back the way we came alongside the creek.
It cleared the grass about probably three metres effortlessly. It was huge. It looked awkward, but smooth, if that makes sense.
Awkward as in, the way it hopped or loped or jumped, didn't look like any other animal.
Like a rabbit cross an ape.
It was so bizarre. It used his back legs, and then came down on the front ones, and then went up again.
I don't know whether it just lay into a belly flop, and went flat into the grass, or whether it went down a hollow or whether the thing just disappeared.
That's going to sound so silly.
I stopped the car and we looked at each other in bewilderment and said what the heck was that that we just saw?
And we waited five minutes and nothing appeared again. It didn't appear.
It would have just stayed on its belly and did a commando stomach crawl that soldiers do.
As I said, the most bizarre experience of my life. I've heard since, of people on the radio tell couple of stories. They said there was a dog man, as it's known or called it, around there. I don't know if these things exist or if it was what I saw, but it definitely had shorter legs than I have, but longer arms and long torso.
It didn't have paws on it. It didn't look like it had paws or hoofs. It had hands.
If they were paws, they were huge. And it definitely had feet. It definitely had feet. Short stumpy feet.
It had stumpy fat legs, big long arms, and a very long torso. No tail.
The head was quite round. It was quite round with a pushed up sort of snout that was sort of short, like a boxer, but huge.
Sort of like that pushed up primate sort of snout nose, but there was volume to it.
As for mouth, it would have been huge, because you could see from the side of it, it had a muzzle of some sort, or a snout of some kind, so the mouth would have been huge.
The size of the head was honestly like, half a bedside table, it was about three footballs.
Maybe two or three, two or three soccer balls. It was absolutely monstrous.
It was mainly covered in hair. It was dark brown, dark browny red.
And the back of it, the hair was long. Longer than on the back of its neck, and it was flowing.
I reckon if it stood up it would have been at least seven foot tall, but the legs were stumpy That's what was weird.
It was so out of proportion. You'd imagine like a lion, a male lion standing on its back legs as tall as it could go. And that's sort of size the head was about the size of a male lion's head.
It didn't have paws.
It looked very muscular. Very muscular.
This thing was very like swift in its movements, even though it looked a bit unco. It was the weirdest looking jump you'd ever seen. A bit like a human.
The elbows flared out like an ape or something, like how you see a gorilla when they run and trying to staunch up. It had its arms and elbows poked or flared out. The hands were curled in.
On the shoulders, even under the hair, you can see the back scapula and as it jumped. That was the other thing that was trippy.
You could tell that there was muscular definition around the scapula and the top of the shoulder blades. Actually, probably less hair on the back of it, but then, then the hair came back again at the legs.
I'm sure if it stood up, it would have been at least seven foot tall. Hugely tall. It would have easily been seven foot tall.
It was further back towards Currumbin waters. Rum Creek Road hooks back towards the rum and Rock hills, you hook back around on the left hand turn and go down for about a kilometer and then it does a big right, right hand bend or a sharp right hand bend, and then there's a little bridge and the creek crossing there. It was just after the right hand bend.
I'm not sure what it is, whether it's the same kind of creature or a dogman creature.
Either that or it was a little bit deformed, but it was certainly capable. It was physically capable.
It still gives me, not chills, but a weird feeling. It's a weird feeling. It's a strange feeling. I want to see it again.
This thing was a living animal. It was flesh and blood from what I could see.
I don't know if it vanished or belly flopped or there was a massive crevice that it jumped into. But it would have jumped in headfirst.
It was a weird thing.
