It was about 9 or 10 pm on a School Camp at Aberfeldy about 2 hours drive from Moe at the start of the Great Dividing Range. It was a heavily bushed area and there were 20 students plus teachers on the camp.

On the first night we were sitting around the campfire, and decided we would like to go spotlighting and for a bush walk. We walked up a track, and came to a bridge over a river, I'm not sure which river.

Half the group decided that they would stay on the bridge, the rest of us went on with the teacher further into the bush. A couple of my friends and I decided we would stay behind and lay in wait to scare the rest, on their way back to the camp.

My two friends climbed up the slope at the edge of the track and sat behind a bush. As I climbed up the bank to the others, they were running away back toward the bridge, speaking gibberish I could not understand. It was a clear evening, and I looked across the bank I had climbed into a group of tea trees. In the trees I could see a big hairy figure. It was about 10 metres away, and walked straight past me parting the trees like it was swimming through them. The trees he was in weren't very thick.

I would say it was about 6 foot 3, an average build, and I had an impression of hair, although I didn't see it clearly. It was walking casually as if it hadn't seen me.

The ranger’s car drove up the track, and then there was a lot of screaming and yelling from the group on the bridge.

That night we heard a lot of noise, we couldn't explain.

I have told a few people of my experience, but no-one believes me.

I have spoken to my Grandparents who live in the Gippsland area, and they have related stories of farmers who have lost sheep, and who have seen some man-like thing.
