Bigfoot In Johor Believed To Be From Perak
By Mohd Haikal Isa
JOHOR BAHARU, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- A colony of "Bigfoot" believed to be roaming the jungles of Johor is said to have moved there from the jungles around Gerik in Perak, according to a source.
The source said the colony, now numbering about 40, had originated as a group of 17 and had moved away due to three main reasons -- the skirmishes between soldiers and communist guerrillas in the early 70s, construction of the East-West Highway and the building of a dam.
In its search for a new habitat, the colony had moved southwards and reached Pahang before getting to Johor, the source told Bernama, here Wednesday.
When the colony was first detected in the jungles of Johor in the 70s, there were only 15 members, the source said, adding that two members are believed to have died or got separated from the group and set up their own colonies or groups.
The source said the older members of the Bigfoot then were in their 20s, adding that it was believed that Bigfoot there were now in their 50s to 60s.
Over the years, the source said, their number grew to about 40, made up of three families.
"The 40 comprised adults and young ones, as well as males and females," the source said.
Asked why the Bigfoot did not move northwards to the jungles of southern Thailand, the source said the jungles there were unsuitable for them.
The source also said that there was a possibility that the Bigfoot in the jungles of Johor would seek a new habitat because of logging and development.
Recently, an association called the Johor Wildlife Protection Society claimed that one of its members had conducted a six-year study on the Bigfoot.
The source said the Bigfoot seemed to be a mix of man and ape, with a ratio of 70 per cent and 30 per cent respectively, and easily reached a height of 10 to 12 feet for an adult and six to seven feet for a young one.
The association had also said that the Bigfoot was not totally covered with hair but had a dense growth of hair on several parts of the body.
The main diet of the Bigfoot comprised fish from the rivers and wild fruits.
Lately, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman confirmed the existence of Bigfoot in the jungles of Johor based on information from the Orang Asli community.
The stories of sightings of Bigfoot by people reported in the local media have encouraged international media organisations to send crew to document evidence of their presence in the jungles of Johor.

Bigfoot in Malaysia?
ABC NEWS
Malaysian Government Is Sponsoring a Hunt for the Legendary Monster
Jan. 29, 2006 ? Amid reports of Bigfoot sightings in the jungles of southern Malaysia, the Malaysian government is trying to track down the legendary monster.
Headlines in Kuala Lumpur have been filled in recent weeks with news of the sightings. The local government is taking the reports so seriously that it's launching what may be the world's first government-sponsored effort to track down the mysterious creature.
To many people, Bigfoot is the stuff of nightmarish folklore. He's been described by hundreds of alleged eyewitnesses as an ape-like creature that stands nearly eight feet tall and weighs more than 500 pounds. His name comes from the 17-inch-long footprints he leaves behind.
Some Canadians say the giant is real. They call him Sasquatch. Just six months ago residents of the small town of Teslin reported seeing a big shaggy creature that left behind a stinky tuft of hair and huge footprints.
In the Himalayas he's an "abominable snowman" called a Yeti.
Australian aboriginals call him a Yowie, but his existence has not been proved.
In the 1987 movie "Harry and the Hendersons," Bigfoot wasn't the scary monster we've all heard about. He turned out to be a friendly giant that became a beloved part of the family.
The most famous caught-on-camera footage, from 1967, was debunked after the family of the photographer admitted it was someone in an ape suit.

Bigfoot lives in Johor jungles, says Ghani
DOES Bigfoot really exist?
?Yes! Bigfoot exists in Johor,? said Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, adding that there was truth in recent reports that some orang asli had sighted the hairy giant brown ape near Kota Tinggi several months ago.
?The orang asli have the ability to sense the presence of Bigfoot by smelling the air and following the tracks. They are not known to make up stories,? he said when launching the Johor edition of the tabloid Kosmos! at Danga Bay on Saturday, according to Mingguan Malaysia.
?Backed by our own research, we are positive that Bigfoot exists in the jungles of Johor,? said Ghani.
Media reports of the creature, said to be furry and 24m to 30m tall, surfaced months ago when several orang asli workers claimed to have seen a family of Bigfoots lurking in the jungle.
On another matter, Kosmo! front-paged a report that two actresses had hurled insults at press photographers and TV cameramen who were recording their arrests during a police raid at an entertainment outlet in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
The two artistes were believed to have been under the influence of alcohol and were among 63 people questioned.
A female artiste who was with them escaped through the back door.

Bigfoot meets the Yardley Yeti
J. D. Mullane
Bucks County Courier Times
September 26, 2006
Bigfoot hunter Tom Biscardi is on the phone from California.
“What's the story out there with the Yardley Yeti? Whaddya got?” he asked.
I told him I have been swamped by reports from people in Lower Bucks County (but mostly in the Yardley/Lower Makefield area) who have seen a strange dog-like creature.
“From what I can tell,” I said, “it could be a feral dog, a fox with mange or a mutant chipmunk.”
Biscardi chuckled lightly.
“Chipmunk,” he said wryly.
“Did you know,” he asked, “that you made all the Bigfoot alerts? Your story has hit nationally and internationally.”
The Yardley Yeti — an “international” hit? I asked.
Yes, among Bigfoot enthusiasts, he said.
Biscardi has spent 33 years researching and hunting Bigfoot, the alleged monster-like creature that stalks thick woodlands from Oregon to Pennsylvania.. Biscardi has been doing it full time for two years. He has a Web site dedicated to his work. (Searchingforbigfoot.com.)
He called me for clarification on the creature. “Yeti” is usually a name associated with Bigfoot. Since Bigfoots (Bigfeet?) are in their annual north-to-south migrating season, he wondered if a wandering Bigfoot is the source of alarm.
“I know there is a migration path out there, and they could be going through your town,” he said.
I don't think this thing is Bigfoot, I said. It's more like Little Foot, or little feet.
“OK, well, I'm talking about hominids; things that walk on two feet,” he said.
This is definitely a four-footed animal, I told him. Probably a fox flushed from its habitat.
Again, he chuckled.
“From the descriptions you've given me, I think you have to ask: Can all these people seeing this thing be nuts? Can they all be hallucinating? Can they all think this thing is a chipmunk gone berserk?” he asked.
I chuckled lightly.
“I'm not going to try to convince you,” he said. “I read your [previous columns] and I'm sure you're going to get more calls.”
He was right. Readers (including lots of kids) are calling to say they have seen a Yardley Yeti-like thing but have also heard it howling and “screaming” in Lower Makefield and Bristol Township.
Here's “Kate” from Morrisville:
“I saw it. It was unlike any animal I've ever seen. It was some sort of mutant. It looked like an anteater crossed with a lemur, but it was reddish, like a setter. The thing was [angry], making a really scary, shrieking noise. We have a weird Pennsylvania thing here,” she said.
I was also contacted by horror story writer Jonathan Maberry.
He said he and his wife took a picture of the Yardley Yeti last October in Doylestown. Maberry believes it's a fox with mange. (Don Polec of Action News interviewed Maberry and is planning a piece on the Yardley Yeti Wed-nesday at 11 p.m., Maberry said.)
“Actually, sightings like the Yardley Yeti go back 500 years in Great Britain, where they are known as the barghest, which are spectral hounds. The "Hound of the Baskervilles' was based on the barghest,” Maberry said..
Maberry describes the barghest in his recent book, “Vampire Universe,” a fascinating and chilling compendium of supernatural creatures. (After reading Maberry, don't go to bed with the lights off.)
Barghests, or “Hell hounds,” he writes, appear as death omens. They emerge from the shadows to chase victims, or “stand baying in the forest near a home where someone is doomed to die.”
Uh, I think I prefer Bigfoot.

JOHOR BARU, Mon.
January 25 2006
The discovery of several huge footprints by a villager in Panti has caused a flurry of excitement among Bigfoot believers.
-----
The 50cm-long footprints (inset, picture above) caused by a single creature that had apparently walked out of a muddy stretch of the jungle area, were found on a recently-tarred road leading to smallholdings located at the foot of Gunung Panti.
Bio-dioversity researcher Vincent Chow, who yesterday led a team of eight Bigfoot enthusiasts, including a professional from England, to investigate the footprints, said there was a strong possibility they were made by a Bigfoot creature.
"We traced the footprints up a hill and found more footprints on the muddy floor of the jungle. However, recent heavy rains have smudged the outline of the footprints.
"From their depth, we can judge that the creature which made them could have been about four times a man's weight."
Chow said the manner in which the creature had traversed the jungle was humanlike.
"Except for a few broken twigs, there was no damage to the plants as the creature seemed to have followed the jungle path carefully, even ducking below thorny creepers. Had an elephant passed through the area, there would have been extensive damage to the vegetation."
Chow said he interviewed a villager who stated he was convinced that some creature had been prowling around the Kampung Temenim Lama area in Panti.
The villager said he heard pots and pans being moved about in his kitchen at the back of the house one night.
He was too scared to check the disturbances then, but in the morning he found the pots turned upside down and the rice spilt.
Meanwhile, a 68-year-old tanker lorry driver claimed he had a close encounter with a Bigfoot family in the 1990s on the Masai-Kong Kong road.
P. Palaniandy said he had left for Kulai after filling up his tanker with crude palm oil at a depot in Kong Kong about 8.30am.
"Just as I was going up a slope, I saw the creatures crossing the road in single file.
"They were going from the Masai side of the jungle to the Kong Kong side."
He said the creatures were between five feet and seven feet tall and heavily built. The long arms of the biggest creature were as thick as a man's thigh.
Palaniandy said he slowed down and was about five metres away from the creatures when they walked into the jungle.
He said they had thick foreheads, bushy raised eyebrows, large protruding jaws, big hair-covered ears, raised chests and large protruding buttocks. The creatures did not turn to look at him.
