It was around 1979 or 1980 and my parents were living on Tamborine Mountain. They managed a Hotel my uncle owned.

I was sitting in the front passenger side of the car at the time, my uncle was driving and we were heading up the Tamborine-Oxenford road.

We were [going through the S-Bends with the high ridges both sides – near Otmoor Road], and I noticed a dark object up on the right side ridge. The headlights caught this image as it jumped down onto the road about 20 or 30 metres ahead. It was lit was in slow motion. It was a massive thing. It was at least between 8 to 12ft tall, it was a big big thing. It had black to brown long hair.

The face was amazing. It was almost human like, but in a gorilla type of way. I was frightened at the time. It was on top of this ridge, jumped onto the road and continued on its way on the other side of the embankment.

It looked like it was almost tracking us along the top of this ridge and then jumped down in front of the car. It had to be a 8 or 9 metres jump. It wasn’t an easy jump. It had really long arms, it had long hair, it was solid and big. It was like a man mountain. It was athletic. I don’t know if it had a neck because of all the hair.

When it was running across the top of the ridge, I thought it may have been some type of bear. Then I remember thinking it looked human but gorilla like and its arms were long. It was like a super-sized Neanderthal but more animalistic like. It had a leathery type of skin. The build was like a gorilla. It was a massive big thing.

I had a hard time sleeping after that.

I’ll never forget it.
