Bemm River is beautiful. It is surrounded by bush and there’s a big river that flows through with wild banks. It hasn’t been logged in years. There is only one road in and out.

We (myself and then boyfriend who was driving), were driving into Bemm River and coming around a bend and he said ‘What the F is that’ sounding really surprised. I looked up and saw this Yowie just standing there looking at us. Our eyes met, and he was looking with the most cheeky curious look on his face. He had the look of a rebellious teenager.

He wasn’t as broad as a lot of the ones people talk about. He was solid, but not as thickly built. He was about 8ft tall, and his hair was about 4” long. His face was kind of flat, but not monkey looking, it was more human looking but with a big jaw. The thing that got me was his forehead was twice the size of a human that went up to the domed head. He was just standing there with his arms by his side, and they were really long arms.

He was about 15 metres away standing in the trees up on a bank on the left hand side. It was quite open forest, so I could see him from head to toe.

He had a cheeky look on his face and on the mouth. He looked like a rebellious teenager that was just as curious about us as we were of him. I think he may have been a teenager, about 14 or 15 years old. But he was still 8ft tall. I think he may have had a little bit of a neck. The hair on his face was a little shorter. His hair was a reddish ginger. He was muscular like an AFL football player.

He didn’t look apelike to me. He looked more human. Perhaps a primitive human. He had a heavy brow ridge, with deep set eyes and a flat nose and wide mouth. He had a big jaw. His arms were longer than a humans arms and he had big hands. The hair looks about the same length all over.

We were shocked. We didn’t speak all the way home. You don’t expect to see that.
