UK Hairy Men JULY 1994

Details
Created: 31 October 2007

July 1994.

Local men Pete and George (psyedonms) were walking through a forestry track in woods near their home of orphins which is situated 20 miles from the city of
Aberdeen. When nearing the end of the track Pete saw a dark igure run from the tree's on the left, across the rack, disappearing into the tree's on the right. He at first thought it was a man but the figure left a strange foreboding in Pete. George did not see the figure and was busy telling Pete he was imagining things when a face appeared out of the tree's behind Pete's back. George was chilled to the bone as the face he was looking at, "looked human, but was not human." It darted away just as quickly when George hrew a large stone in it's direction. The two friends than left the area feeling somewhat unnerved. A few weeks later the two friends along with a third, were to have another encounter with the creature' as they were driving along the road into orphin's, approx. two miles from their first meeting. In the witnesses own words:" Suddenly from the side of the road there came this, great muscular, hairy figure bounding out which started to run behind the car."

" At one point it caught up and ran alongside the vehicle, not seemingly out of breath as it approached speeds of up to 35 - 40mph. " Pete describes the creature as," ... strong and muscular...red glowing eyes...body covered in hair...about 6ft to 6ft five inches...jet black... " The figure after several minutes stopped abruptly in the middle of the road, leaving the terrified car occupants to carry on their journey into Torphin's alone, as the 'creature' faded slowly out of sight in the eerie glow of the cars red tail lights. The same or similar 'creature' has also been reported by a lady who lives in an isolated cottage on the edge of the forest that Pete and George first saw the figure. She has seen it on two occasions watching her house, she too describes the red glowing eyes. The only other report that I am aware of is that of a man catching a fleeting glance through high powered binoculars as it darted through a forest clearing. Ayrshire's Dundonald Hill. (if anyone has seen the film dog soldiers I am sure they pinched the idea from this!) Even hundred's of year's ago Dundonald Hill was said to be the home of a 'creature' and not many dared venture out onto the hill alone or without good reason. The dogs of Dundonald Castle were said to become very restless, agitated and excited at times while looking out towards the hill, barking and yelping, never under any circumstances would they wander up it, or so I'm
told.

People have reported a strange creature or haunting, call it what you will, on the hill right up to the present time. Frightened folk have told of "shadows that haunt the tree's". One badly shaken man related how when walking on the hill he heard whispering voices behind him, on turning round he saw nothing. This happened two or three times before he decided to take solace with a stiff drink in a local bar. Another man reports of seeing two ghostly, squat shaped, featureless shadows trailing him from nearby trees, these shadows then merged together as one, growing to twice its size. He then also left the hill not waiting to see what happened next. This same 'entity' has also been described as being able to jump straight into the branches of trees, as the creatures in Fife. Dundonald Hill seems to figure heavy in the minds of locals as an area to be avoided, but nobody really seems to know why.

School children in Irvine have said that they dare not go up as it is haunted but when asked what by they didn't know. I have been told that there is a high count of suicides in the area with several youths having been found hanged on the hill, although I have not checked these facts out. Scott Webb of Irvine said to me that the hill has a presence and "exudes an oppressiveness" and claims that many friends feel the same way about the place. Josephine Aldridge from England says she will never go up the hill again as long as she lives. She had recently been spending a little time in Kilmarnock, (summer 1994.) and for a day out decided to visit Dundonald Castle. While walking on the hill her two Labradors suddenly went berserk, running around in circles growling and snapping at the air before finally slinking to the ground as far as they could go with their tails tucked beneath them, crawling backwards in obvious terror. Then Josephine saw, "this huge creature" which appeared some distance to the side of her. She had not noticed it before and she assures us that if it had been there earlier she would most certainly have seen it. It did not seem to be solid as Josephine could see the grass of the hill through its body, but it was covered in, "longish, charcoal coloured hair.

It made no indentations in the grass," and Josephine on reflection thought it ghost-like. "The thing that struck the most terror was its eyes, two long slits
which glowed a bright red. It had two holes where the nose should have been, very thick lips...." In fact it was not dissimilar to a gorilla in shape, although it stood well over ten feet tall on two legs. When confronted by the strange sight Josephine began to pray, the creature after a few moments slowly faded out of sight, but the dogs attitude never changed and the English woman felt sure that the "monster" was still around. Josephine left Dundonald Hill in a hurry, not
too far behind her whimpering dogs. George, (pseudonym) who likes to spend a lot of time fishing, walking and camping decided to spend a night on the hill,
during the summer of 1993. He took along his dog Rover, (also a pseudonym!) who had never left his side since it was a pup. He arrived just after the sun began to set, and erected his one man tent. Deciding to settle down with a book he lay atop his sleeping bag fully dressed. After about an hour George saw a shadow pass by he side of his tent through the lamp light. He thought it strange that anybody would be in the area this time of night, again the shadow loomed over the tent, and at this point George swears he heard a kind of rasping or breathing sound.

By this time he had come to the conclusion that some of his mates had come up after him and were now playing a joke. He said to himself that he would not rise to the bait and once again settled down with his book. George's heart then leaped into his mouth as the whole tent shook violently as though somebody had tripped over a guy rope, at this George went outside to look, his nervousness turning to apprehension when he found the area outside totally deserted. He quickly went back inside the tent securing the flaps as tight as he could, by this time Rover was whimpering and cowering in the corner, then the tent began to sway as if caught in strong winds. George sat on top of his sleeping bag now too scared to even contemplate sleeping. The secured flaps suddenly burst wide open, the dog who had never left George's side gave out an almighty yelp and ran off into the darkness. Someone or something than grabbed hold of George's ankle, slowly but surely the man was pulled out of the tent, he could see no one and struggled desperately but the grip did not loosen. When he had been pulled about ten foot clear of the tents entrance, the invisible force lifted George clear off the floor, his head about two inches off the grass. The sky became black, a clap of thunder rang out and a streak of lightening flashed across the sky.

Then suddenly the grip let go of his ankle, and George fell limp into the grass, petrified. George ran back into the tent, the sky clearing as he did so. He then spent a very tense night sat at the entrance of the tent, he being too scared to make his way home in the darkness, jumping at every little noise that the night made which seemed to surround him like some huge black blanket. He had called for Rover often, but each time the dog failed to answer. Morning eventually came and after packing away his belongings he headed down the hill, as he reached the bottom Rover came bounding out of the undergrowth towards him and they both went home together. George has never been up the hill since and he has no intentions of ever doing so again, he can offer no explanation as to what happened to him, only that it was a very real experience. He does express hurt at his dog leaving him, a thing which it has never done before. (Just as a footnote: yellow frogs have been found around the actual castle as well as some with red markings.) Dundonald Hill and the surrounding area have always been a source for mysterious phenomena. Big cats have been seen in the area for decades, it has long been a UFO hotspot. The castle that sits atop of the hill has its fair share of ghosts too.

Family of Bigfoot type Creatures.

The area of Falkland in Fife is said to be the home for a family of Bigfoot type creatures, ranging from four feet in height upwards. They have been seen by
several residents in the area, an area incidentally which has werewolf legends going back a couple of centuries. These 'creatures' are said to have the
ability to be able to jump from a standing position into the branches of tree's, without bending their knee's. The Skein Gorilla / April 2002. An anonymous photographer snapped this picture which he claims is a Gorilla stalking the shores of Loch Skene in Aberdeenshire. The snapper is quoted in the Aberdeenshire Press & Journal as saying: "I do not want to be named in case my sanity is questioned". He continued: "I was indulging in my favourite pastime of photography. I was returning to my car when I noticed some movement in a clearing of forest. Thinking it was a deer, I got my camera ready. As I looked closer I realised I was staring at what can only described as a large ape." The witnesses first instinct was to run: "I believe if I had stayed for longer I could have taken some
clearer photos but at the time I was more concerned for my own well being than getting the perfect shot. He described the animal as no bigger than the
average person but very wide across the shoulders. The only thing I am sure of is that it was some type of ape. From my limited knowledge, I believe the ape
I witnessed could come close to resembling a gorilla. Local residents are not convinced although one claims that he has seen a peacock in the area! Suggestions coming forward are, plastic bags, tree stumps, even a big cat has been put forward as a possible identity. But the real culprit stepped forward a week later.

A
student in a gorilla suit thinking it would be a great practical joke!

US body: More Bigfoots here

JOHOR BARU: A United States-based Bigfoot research organisation is convinced that the vast mountainous and river/swamp zones in peninsular Malaysia could ideally support a healthy, scattered population of Bigfoots.

Comparing these areas to the Olympic peninsula in Washington State where, according to expeditions by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organisation (BFRO), a few hundred Bigfoots are believed to be present, the organisation estimates that Malaysia, with a much bigger area, could have many more Bigfoots.

The BFRO was commenting on its website a recent Bernama report on Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor?s statement that his ministry was considering making the Bigfoot mystery in Johor an attraction to bring more tourists to Malaysia.

Tengku Adnan had said his ministry would look into how to "package" Bigfoot as an attraction but would not make up stories for visitors.

BFRO said Bernama and Malaysia should not consider the Bigfoot story as tabloid material but regard it as a unique science/animal story with global interest, adding: "We predict in the future this story will be a tremendous source of pride for the entire country."

"The best ?indicator species? for Bigfoot habitats in Malaysia may turn out to be wild pigs," the website said.

"It may be their main prey," it said.

Vance Orchard - His life hunting Bigfoot 19-03-06

Details
Created: 19 March 2006

Vance Orchard died March 7, 2006, in Walla Walla, Washington, after a cancer discovered just a week ago ended his Bigfoot hunting and reporting at the age of 88. Before Orchard died, he talked to me from October through December of last year, about how he wanted his "Bigfoot history," as he called it, remembered. The following is Vance?s own view of his "Bigfoot" life, as he wished for it to be shared with the Bigfoot community after he died. - Loren

Vance Orchard with Bigfoot casts found in the Walla Walla, Washington area.

Vance Orchard (1917-2006): In His Own Words

As Told to Loren Coleman

I was born in a small town near Colville, Washington State on December 26, 1917. I was a graduate in 1936 of Highline High School, Burien, Washington.

I started writing about the Northwest (but not Bigfoot) beginning in my high school newspaper. I followed the craft through weekly newspapers around Seattle-Tacoma until 1951 when I moved to Walla Walla to work for the Union-Bulletin as its Roving Reporter, covering 12 counties of SE Washington and NE Oregon. I retired in 1983 and continued to write for them until 1990, when I began writing a column with the Times of Waitsburg, Washington.

I really don?t know how many articles about Bigfoot that I have written for these two papers but I have been about the only one here writing about Bigfoot for decades.

It all started with a story in 1966 about big tracks seen near here. The 1966 Bigfoot tracks were reported by a motorcyclist riding the Tiger Canyon road which comes off the Blue Mountain peaks and joins the Mill Creek Road, a stream which runs through Walla Walla, en route to the Walla Walla River and thence to the Columbia River. Tracks were found on the Tiger Canyon Road about 15 air miles east of Walla Walla on the eastern boundary of the Mill Creek Watershed which straddles the Oregon-Washington boundary.

The story went to the Associated Press, and Roger Patterson saw the story and came over to Walla Walla to check it out. I spent most of two days with Roger, in the field and at my home and found him far from being some devious, perpetrator of nonsense that I have read in recent years. This was a year before the Bluff Creek film he shot, of course.

I wrote two books about Bigfoot, compilations largely of reports of sightings of Bigfoot in this area (Bigfoot of the Blues, 1993, and The Walla Walla Bigfoot, 2001).

My work in the Bigfoot field commenced with that time spent with Roger Patterson, and continued through the years, working in the field with Dr. Grover Krantz, Wes Sumerlin, Paul Freeman, Bill Laughery, Dr. Jeffrey Meldrum, Dr. Ron Brown, and others, often following several miles of Bigfoot tracks and other significant signs of their presence.

In the event you print something of my Bigfoot "history," please add the name of Rene Dahinden to those with whom I have shared some field experiences. Rene came here following the first reports from Paul Freeman, and was here during some filming by TV crews. I believe from ABC?s "Good Morning America."

Rene and I shared good rapport and exchanged several items of communication over the years. I split with him on some of his very strong views of U.S. scientists in general and one or two in particular but I liked the way he went at things in general. This view was especially true when he took the Patterson 1967 film to Russia for scientists there to examine. This, as you know, was done and an affirmative assessment of the film and what it portrayed was given. This is somewhat forgotten, it seems in light of what we read of so much, the recent bogus claims by people who say they performed in monkey suits.

Vance Orchard chronicled Paul Freeman?s quest as compelling, and discussed what Freeman found in the way of Bigfoot tracks and other evidence often. He is shown above holding Freeman?s casts.

Vance?s longtime friend Joe Beelart has observed: "Vance always had great faith in the early work of Paul Freeman and was a dedicated friend of Paul."

Villagers? close encounter with Bigfoot

STORY AND PIC BY FARIK ZOLKEPLI

KLUANG: It looks human but has fur the shades of dark red and black covering its face and body, stands about 4m tall and lets out a loud roar.

That is how the orang asli villagers from Batu 25, Kampung Punjat Sungai Nadik, in Kahang, about 190km from Johor Baru, described a creature known as siamang or better known as Bigfoot.

One of the villagers supposedly even had a 15-minute standoff with the creature and has stopped going into the jungle alone.

A 40cm to 50cm footprint of the Bigfoot discovered in Mawai, Kota Tinggi, recently. The print was found in mud after a group of workers tracked down the creature to a river.
Recalling his horrifying experience four months ago, Amir Md Ali said he was catching frogs in the Gunung Panti jungles to sell when he stumbled upon the creature.

?I was heading to my favourite spot when I suddenly saw this tall creature about 30m away.

?I was trembling with fear as the creature stared at me,? he said, adding that he did not move for about 15 minutes.

Amir, who initially thought the creature would leave, decided to run when the creature continued to stare at him.

?I did not look back and continued running until I reached my village,? he said, showing a clearing in the jungle where the standoff occurred to some 50 people who took part in an expedition to gather information on the Bigfoot sightings in the state.

The one-day expedition, led by Johor National Parks director Hashim Yusof, comprised park officials and press members.

Another villager, Herman Deraman, 21, or better known as Along, had a closer encounter with the creature in the woods.

?I was resting one night in a wooden hut on stilts after a long day of collecting bamboo strips.

?Suddenly, the hut started shaking violently,? he said, adding that soon after that, he heard a loud roar that sounded like that of a wild beast.

That incident kept him awake the whole night.

The next day, he encountered the creature again but this time at the place he usually gathered bamboo.

?I thought I saw a tree shaking but after a while, I realised there was a huge creature sitting down and rubbing itself against the tree.

?Luckily, the creature did not see me as its back was facing me,? he said.

Kampung Punjat Sungai Nadik is home to about 30 orang asli families who earn a living by gathering and selling produce collected from the jungle.

Hashim said the expedition was aimed at ascertaining the truth on the existence of the Bigfoot.

?We want to uncover the truth about this creature and also quash any rumour that can scare away visitors to the national park,? he said, adding that some 124,000 people visited the parks annually.

Hashim said they were also compiling a database on Bigfoot or orang mawas sightings at various spots.

Description of event:
Around 1 am my mother woke me up and told me she just heard a scary sound and she wanted me to hear it too. I went out side and waited, then about 5 min. later I was about to go back in when I heard the sound. It was a combination of howl, screaching, yipping, grunting. It made my hairs stand on end. It lasted for about 15 sec. then I went and woke my father up so we could go look for what made that sound. We searched the property line and everywhere in between and found nothing and didn't hear it again. The next day my next door nieghbor tells us that about the same time someone was outside her bedroom window. Her blindes were pulled so all she saw was a shadow pass her window. She didn't think anything of it until I told her that the bottom of the window in question was about 1.5ft above my head, and I am 5ft8in.
