A second bigfoot sighting has been reported by a young girl, and her play mates in Paupanekis Point, Norway House, Manitoba, which is located on the south end of the same First Nations reserve where ferryman, Bobby Clarke, videotaped a large, dark, bipedal creature walking along the bank of the Nelsen River.
The girls were close to a residential area, which borders the woods, at around 7:30-8:00 pm on May 20, when the encounter occurred. The woods are bordered by knee high grass, which is where the creature was standing in plain view, apparently watching the children play. One of the girls fainted from fright, after seeing "a huge creature." None of the children were hurt, but they are understandably still quite shaken, and afraid to be left alone.
Immediately following the sighting, a search party was assembled to investigate the surrounding area. Footprints were found where the actual sighting occurred, as well as deeper into the woods. Several more expeditions have been conducted since, and have resulted in finding more physical evidence. The size of some of the tracks measure "larger than a man`s size 16 shoe" said one witness, and have a clearly defined outline of the toes. The tracks have been preserved, photographed, and videotaped by Norway House residents.

Hair samples have also been found at several locations, including on the inside edge of one of the footprints, and at another location, clinging to a pine tree where more tracks, and a strong lingering odor was also reported. The odor was described to be a mix between wet dog, and skunk. A witness who has collected some of the hair samples reported, "I thought they would be thick and course and black, but they look kinda longish, half black and half white and (on some) the very bottom looks almost fine and spliced up like a fine razor split the hairs into many on one single strand."
The physical evidence collected following the most recent sighting raises some interesting questions. Where as the Nelson River tracks measured 20 inches in length, with a six foot stride, in Paupanekis Point, tracks measuring 13 inches in length, as well as 20 inches have been found. Also, hair samples given to the ACA`s expedition team were dark in color, according to Cherie Curry, a member of the team, yet the hair samples found after the second sighting are half black, and half white.
Some N.H. residents have theorized that the smaller prints may belong to a juvenile, and that it has possibly wandered away from an adult/parent, which might explain the ongoing incidents surrounding Norway House, including the frequent howls coming from wooded areas close to homes. Bobby Clarke also reported hearing strange howls on several occasions preceding his sighting.
Although details are still sketchy, a third encounter in which the creature is said to have returned to the same area as the second sighting, moving large rocks in it`s path has been reported. I`ll update if/when I learn more. I am also waiting for more photographs of tracks, and hair samples, which I`ll photograph, and post once they arrive.
This rash of sightings is not the first in this area. In 1976, multiple sightings, spread over a length of time, were reported in Poplar River, 76 miles south of Norway House. The following is the report submitted to the Vancouver Lower Mainland Division of the RCMP, following a police investigation. Norway House RCMP Report
"Norway House to Vancouver Lower Mainland Division, attention Sergeant Doane.
It was reported to our office on the 26 July 76 by the chief of the Poplar River Indian Band that many of his people have sighted on the reserve many times a large hairy animal that walks on two legs. Poplar River is located approx. 76 miles to the south of Norway House. An investigation was conducted and the results are as follows:Several people were interviewed and they all stated that the animal was approximately seven to eight feet tall and was very broad at the shoulders. It had the general body structure of a man only many times larger. A foot cast was taken of the foot impression that was left behind by the so-called monster and is held at this detachment. It measures 16 inches by five inches, and has only three toes. It's fur is a glossy gray color and it has white hair on it's head. They stated that it was very powerfully built and one man reported that he saw it swimming. To date there have been no further reports of sightings in our area. It should be noted that this so-called monster seemed very inquisitive towards the people and would come around the houses on the settlement and look in doors and windows."- Excerpt from the 1976 RCMP Report, posted on the BFRO website.

Secondhand report of vehicle shaken, smell, frightened dog
Date: summer
Sacramento county, CA
Nearest town: Franklin
Nearest road: unknown
Conditions: clear
Time: night 1:00 am
Location: This incident was relayed to me, second hand, so long ago I can't exactly remember. I think it was in a National Forest near Sacremento County, Ca.
Description of event: This story was told to me 20 years ago by a friend and it has stayed with me ever since. It happened when she lived in Franklin, Ca. Her father worked with a guy that liked to go camping ALOT with his brother-in-law and his son. One of them had a dog, a bulldog x terrier cross, that they would take with them. This little dog was FEARLESS, often chasing bear or mountain lion whenever the opportunity presented itself. On this occasion they were in the mountains in a remote area only accessible by an unimproved dirt road not much better than two ruts. There was no sign of anyone else being around. They set up camp in a clearing of trees, the tops of which formed a canopy so it seemed like they were in a room made of trees with a leafy ceiling. One of the men was sleeping in the back of the pick up truck, the other two were sleeping in the cab. In the middle of the night the man in the back of the truck woke up. He realized two things right off. 1) the insects and little night creatures were completely silent, and 2) his dog was whimpering like a little pup, scratching the truck trying to get in the back. This really freaked him out because he thought,"What is scaring my dog? What on earth could be scarier than a bear or mountain lion?" In the same instant he smelled the most gosh-awful smell he had ever smelled. Suddenly his truck started shaking wildly, so much so that the back tires were lifting off the ground. All the while the dog, tied to the rear bumper was going nuts. The rocking stopped but the smell remained. A moment later the same thing happened again. When it stopped this guy thought,"I don't care what's out there, I'm leaving!" In a split second he jumped out of the truck, threw his dog in the back, got in the cab and drove away as fast as he could. When they got up the courage to go back the following week to get thier camping gear they found the camp totally destroyed. Broken tree branches were strewn around the campsite. There was very little they could salvage. As the ground under the trees was covered with fallen leaves, they could find no footprints. They have gone over in thier minds all sorts of possibilities for the events of that night and can only conclude a strong possibility of an encounter with a Bigfoot. If it was an earthquake, why the awful stench and the peculiar actions of thier brave little dog?

Possible baby Bigfoot caught on video in Modena
Jeremiah Horrigan
Times Herald-Record
November 24, 2005
Modena ? Bigfoot, the legendary man-ape from out West, might have some East Coast relatives hanging from the trees surrounding Lembo Lake.
Some shaky images on an 8-year-old videotape have sent Bigfoot watchers around the world into a tizzy. They think they've found a baby Bigfoot clambering up a tree at the 300-acre former orchard off Route 44/55.
The video clip appeared on the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization Web site (BFRO.net) last week. The BFRO calls itself "the only scientific research organization exploring the Bigfoot/Sasquatch mystery."
"Bigfoot? I'll be damned. I thought he was only in California," said Michael Lembo Sr., owner of what is now an ATV track next to the lake.
If Lembo has his way, his place will soon become a tourist attraction for Sasquatch seekers.
Turns out the mysterious man-ape has made local appearances before, as far back as 1973 at Greenwood Lake, and in 1985 in Cragsmoor in Ulster County. Sullivan County appears to have stayed Sasquatch-free during the years.
The baby Bigfoot sighting is a rare instance in which a junior member of the legendary tribe has apparently been photographed.
The alleged Bigfoot's baby pictures were captured inadvertently in 1997 by a Lembo Lake camper identified as Doug Pridgen, who was videotaping a friend while attending a rock concert at the lake. While transferring the videotape to a different format a few years ago, Pridgen's girlfriend noticed two ape-like figures, one smaller than the next, cavorting in some trees about 100 feet behind Pridgen's friend.
In his BFRO report, Pridgen says, "At first, you think, 'big monkey,' but what would a monkey be doing in the woods of N.Y.? The thing swings from one tree to the next and moves up and down it with ease."
A followup report by the group concluded that the tape is not a hoax.
Lembo says the Bigfoot sighting "will put Modena on the map."
He emphasized that he found out about the sighting through the Web site. Lembo, who has run afoul of neighbors and town officials through the years for using his acreage for noisy events, emphasized that "none of this is my doing."
"I didn't invite Bigfoot here ? it's not a publicity scheme," he said.
He's excited by the possibilities presented by Bigfoot-based business, figuring that people will be willing to pay to see the place where baby Bigfoot has swung.
"They say God doesn't close one door without opening another. This is an opportunity I should take advantage of ? wouldn't you?" he said.
Lembo said a few years ago, a deer-hunting nephew told him he'd once "glimpsed" an apelike creature east of Modena near Marlborough Mountain.
"I thought he was full of baloney back then," Lembo said. "But now I'm thinking, there's plenty of caves there. That's where they must shelter. They must be a family that's migrated here ? who's gonna stop 'em, eh?"

Scientists studying phenomena believe creature exists; many questions surround Bigfoot sightings
Do you think there is an apelike creature, Bigfoot or sasquatch, living in the forests of the Northwest? What do you make of the 15-inch footprints that have been found all over and by the hundreds, if not the thousands? What do you think of the 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film of a so-called Bigfoot walking in Northern California? Are all the purported sightings of Bigfoot just hoaxes or simply misidentifications?
Did you know there are bona fide, Ph.D.-bearing scientists studying the Bigfoot phenomena who are convinced there really is such a creature? Were you aware that one of those researchers taught for 30 years at Washington State University until his retirement in 1998 and another currently teaches at Idaho State University?
Are those enough questions for now?
Actually, probably not, for this is a subject with lots of questions – and hardly any answers. But the questions are fascinating, and the new prospects for answers are astounding.
So, a few more questions: Have you ever heard of Bigfoot sightings in North Idaho? Did you know that one of the hottest areas for recent, as well as older, Sasquatch records is the part of the Blue Mountains that straddles the Washington-
Oregon border just outside Walla Walla? Were you aware that documented sightings of Sasquatch in the West date back to 1811?
Let's stop with the questions, and I'll begin to answer a few of the historical ones.
I'll skip all the Native American "legends" that relate to sasquatch except to point out that the term "sasquatch" comes from the Salish family of languages used by tribes in the Pacific Northwest, including British Columbia, to describe a Bigfootlike beast.
The name "Bigfoot" was coined by a reporter to portray the source of some huge tracks found near Bluff Creek, Calif., in 1958.
In 1811, a 14-inch footprint was observed near Jasper, Alberta. In 1840, a missionary to the original inhabitants of the Spokane area wrote home concerning a problem with hairy giants that were stealing salmon. In 1893, Theodore Roosevelt published a story of a sasquatchlike creature told to him by an "old mountain hunter in Idaho." And in 1925, the Oregonian newspaper reported on a group of miners who had been attacked by stone-hurling sasquatchlike animals at their cabin near Ape Canyon on the flank of Mount St. Helens.
All these reports predate – from 147 years to 33 years – the Bigfoot hoopla that started in 1958 with the Bluff Creek footprints.
When I was a teenager, the 16 mm Patterson-Gimlin film purporting to show a walking female Bigfoot was touring the Northwest, and I attended one of the showings. At the time, many people were calling the creature a "man in a monkey suit."
In 2002, someone confessed to being the "woman in a monkey suit," but her assertion failed to hold up. Recent evaluations of the film have found no evidence of a hoax. Certain anatomical details of the creature are too odd, yet real, to have been faked.
